The third battle report has been released giving us another wonderful glimpse at the splendor that is Starcraft 2. This time with a decent amount of the Protoss Force Field ability

According to several game news sites, a beta test is probably right around the corner. This particular piece of hype is generated by an email sent out by Blizzard to game news houses, telling them to register for a beta account at battle.net no later than today, June 19th.

Of course, there is a chance that this does not mean the beta is coming real soon, but until proven otherwise, we here at SC2 Observer will be ecstatically biting our fingernails. Hard.

What we have all been expecting can now be confirmed: Starcraft 2 WILL be released in 2009. This wonderful piece of news was confirmed by Activision Blizzard executives at E3 [6:47] Morhaime says, "We will soon be launching Starcraft II." [6:48] The game doesn't get a date though. Neither do Diablo III or the company's new massively multiplayer online game, though both get name-checked. [6:53] And now a bit about Starcraft II... [6:54] The new Battle.net service will launch alongside Starcraft II, which represents a return to the company's roots.
